Former Massachusetts teacher Christine McCallum was sentenced to 29 months in prison and 10 years probation for raping and drugging a 13-year-old student.

McCallum, 29, was arrested in January 2009 and convicted of raping the boy up to 300 times over a 21-month period.

She pleaded guilty to 12 counts of child rape, one count of drugging a person for sex and one count of providing alcohol to a minor, according to Enterprise.

The former Abington elementary school educator started tutoring her victim and his 11-year-old brother in 2005, FOX 25 reported.

After a 20-month period, the two boys started living with McCallum and her husband part-time.

McCallum had sex with the 13 year old for the first time in February 2006, and used alcohol and marijuana to persuade him.

The sexual relationship ended almost two years later when the boy, then 15, became interested in a girl his own age.

In an impact statement, the boy’s father described McCallum as “a true predator and a monster” who destroyed his life, WATD-FM reported.

“You put my two sons at grave risk on many occasion with out my knowledge, you gave my kids drugs and alcohol with no regard for their well being, only to fulfill your own selfish needs,” the father said in court.

“To me you are true predator and a monster.”

A student who mocked the footballer on Twitter after he collapsed today lost his appeal against a 56-day jail term.

Liam Stacey, 21, of Pontypridd, south Wales, sobbed as he was taken away following the failed sentence appeal hearing at Swansea Crown Court.

Mr Justice Wyn Williams told him he rejected an argument that Stacey had already been punished enough.

He said the Swansea University biology student had admitted an offence, racially aggravated public disorder, of intent.

'He was intending to say what he said and was intending to produce the effect that he did.'

The court heard Stacey has been treated as a 'pariah' by other prisoners since he was locked up.

High Court Judge Mr Justice Wyn Williams told him: 'There can be no avoiding the conclusion that your offence was committed in the context of a grave illness that had afflicted Fabrice Muamba.

'It was immediately apparent that he was gravely ill and while he was lying prostrate on the pitch you posted comments that were extremely racist couched in terms that can only be described as extremely offensive.

'What was written was capable of being read by any user of Twitter and these messages provoked a very strong response.

'You received responses which were extremely critical but you did not desist - instead you posted eight messages which were extremely abusive and insulting.

'You later realised the enormity of your behaviour and tried to apologise. But you deserve to be punished for your actions. It can’t be argued that a term of 56 days is too long for this offence.

'By pleading guilty you admitted a racist intent to your comments.'

Stacey was watching the FA cup match between Spurs and Bolton Wanderers on TV when Muamba fell to the ground.

Earlier he had been drinking while watching Wales win the rugby Grand Slam match against France.

Stacey Tweeted: “LOL, F*** Muamba. He’s dead!!! £haha,” - then posted eight further offensive racist messages.

Stacey was jailed for 56 days on Tuesday after admitting racially aggravated harassment and disorder.

The reviled tweet came at a time when the Bolton midfielder's plight was attracting a wave of sympathy around the world.

Football fans watched in horror as Muamba collapsed after suffering a heart attack during the FA Cup clash.

Millions witnessed the incident at White Hart Lane as Bolton's clash with home team Tottenham Hotspur was screened live on television.

But after a drunken Stacey received a deluge critical replies to his distasteful tweet, he responded with a torrent of racist abuse on the website.

Support for Stacey’s jail sentence was widespread on the day it was handed down, and widely debated on Twitter.

But a significant minority criticised his punishment and claimed it was politically motivated to make an example of him.

His legal team will tomorrow launch an appeal against his sentence at Swansea Crown Court.

The hearing, which is expected to last at least one hour, will go before High Court judge Mr Justice Wyn Williams.

The messages were forwarded to the police by several members of the social network, including former England striker Stan Collymore, himself a victim of abuse on Twitter.

Stacey initially claimed his account had been accessed by somebody else, but later pleaded guilty to racially aggravated harassment, and was sent to prison to ‘reflect the public outrage’ at his comments.

A 37-year-old man injured in a 1997 gun accident has been given a new face, teeth, tongue and jaw in what doctors say is the most extensive face transplant ever performed.

Officials at the University of Maryland Medical Center announced today that Richard Lee Norris is recovering well after last week's 36-hour surgery.

He is beginning to feel his face and already brushing his teeth and shaving. He's also regained his sense of smell, which he had lost after the accident.

For 15 years, Mr Norris lived as a recluse, hiding behind a mask and only coming out at night time. The transplant will give him his life back, said Dr Eduardo Rodriguez, the lead surgeon.

'Before, people used to stare at Richard because he wore a mask and they wanted to see the deformity,' Rodriguez said.

'Now, they have another reason to stare at him, and it's really amazing.'

The surgeons are calling it the world's most comprehensive face transplant which allowed the Virginia man to emerge from behind his mask after 15 years.

When he shot himself in the face in 1997 he lost his nose, lips and most movement in his mouth. He has had multiple life-saving, reconstructive surgeries but none as successful as this.

He received the new face from an anonymous donor last week whose organs saved five other patients' lives on the same day.

Six days after the surgery, he can already move his tongue and open and close his eyes and is recovering much faster than doctors expected.

'He's actually looking in the mirror shaving and brushing his teeth, which we never even expected,' said Dr Eduardo Rodriguez, associate professor of surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and head of the transplant team, who spoke at a press conference.

When Norris opened his eyes on the third day after the surgery with his family around him, he wanted to see a mirror.

'He put the mirror down and thanked me and hugged me,' said Dr Rodriguez.

Mr Norris's face transplant seems to be the most aesthetically successful to date, according to photographs and video shared with reporters at a press conference. He is still recovering in the hospital and did not appear at the media event.

'We concealed all the lines so it would give him the most immediate best appearance with minimal touch-ups down the road.'

To ensure Mr Norris would retain maximum function of his facial expressions and movements, doctors gave him a new tongue for proper speech, eating, and chewing, normally aligned teeth, and connected his nerves to allow for smiling

The transplant was 'an amazing feat', said the dean of the School of Medicine, Dr E. Albert Reece at the press conference.

'It's also an unprecedented and historic procedure that we believe will change, if you will, the face of medicine now and in the future,' Reece said.

Norris's transplant comes on the heels of successful face transplants in Forth Worth, Texas, and Boston, Massachusetts, last year. He is the first full face transplant recipient in the United States to retain his eyesight.

A virtual army of 100 doctors, scientists and other university medical staff ranging from plastic surgeons to craniofacial specialists teamed up for the operation.

The surgery involved ten years of research funded by the Department of Defense's Office of Naval Research, and will serve as a model for helping war veterans injured by improvised explosive devices in Afghanistan, the university said.

Rodriguez saluted the work of the teams around the world that had conducted the 22 face transplants to date, without which, he said, this operation would not have been possible.

The first full face transplant was performed in France in 2005 on a woman who was mauled by her dog. The Cleveland Clinic performed the first face transplant in the U.S. in 2008.

The Department of Defense has been funding some face and hand surgeries with the goal of helping wounded soldiers.

More than 1,000 troops have lost an arm or leg in Afghanistan or Iraq, and the government estimates that 200 troops might be eligible for face transplants.

The University of Maryland's research on transplants was funded by a grant from the Office of Naval Research, and doctors said they hope to begin operating soon on military patients.

Officials provided little detail on Norris or the circumstances of the accident.

'This accidental injury just destroyed everything. The rest of his friends and colleagues went on to start getting married, having children, owning homes,' Dr Rodriguez said.

'He wants to make up for all of that.

Three women in Zimbabwe have been accused of raping at least four men to obtain their sperm for traditional rituals.

The women, whose trial began Monday, are collectively charged with 17 counts of aggravated indecent assault.

Police say the women may have been part of a nationwide syndicate that used the sperm for traditional rituals in the belief they make people lucky and wealthy.

The women were arrested in a town 170 miles outside of the capital city of Harare after police found 31 used condoms in their car.

The suspects in the case have denied the charges, claiming they are prostitutes and did not have time to dispose of the condoms.

“Are we not suspects until proven guilty? It’s as if people have already made their judgments and found us guilty,” said Sophie Nhokwara, 26, one of the suspects, in an interview.

At least nine men have come forward as being victims with similar stories of being attacked.

Kelvin Hazangwi, national director of the Padare Mena’s Forum on Gender, said male rape is still a taboo subject in Zimbabwe.

“I’ve noticed that the men who have come forward are really traumatized after seeking medical assistance of these rapes and need counseling,” Hazangwi told ABC News.

“Some of them, their partners left them and they could not go back to their families. Their social networks have broken down.”

“This case is shocking not only for the men but also for the society as a whole,” Hazangwi said.

“Many people drove to the police station just to get a glimpse or a view of the women that would rape men.”

The seizure followed a request by the International Criminal Court in The Hague, which is seeking the extradition from Libya of Gaddafi’s son Seif al-Islam on charges of crimes against humanity.

The police “seized today fixed and moveable assets, company stock and bank accounts connected to the family of ex-Libyan leader (Muammar) Gaddafi and to his entourage,” a police statement said, which also listed the value of the assets seized.

Shares in top Italian firms, including the nation’s largest banking group UniCredit, oil major ENI and carmaker Fiat were among the sequestered assets.

Police said they further confiscated stock in the football club Juventus, a building in Rome, 150 acres of forest on the island of Pantelleria and two cars.

A rogatory commission at the ICC requested the assets be seized in the context of its investigation into Kadhafi’s son and his former intelligence chief Abdullah Senussi, also a brother-in-law to the fallen Libyan strongman.

Both received plastic surgery at the No. 411 Hospital of People's Liberation Army, the hospital confirmed yesterday with Shanghai Daily.

The younger has already returned to her hometown as "she" received the surgery months ahead of her older sister, who boarded a train back home yesterday afternoon. "The operations on both the twins are successful.

They said they would continue to save up from hard work so they can return for their respective last phases of surgery," said Zhao Yede, the twins' plastic surgeon. In China, their legal gender will remain "female" until all the surgical steps are completed and they go through the legal application for a gender-swap registry with the police. But the question now is whether they will pull through the final move toward the legal change.

"Maybe we will announce the news in the future but now we will just keep it a secret to our friends and fellow townsmen," said one of the twins, who would not have their names and other personal details revealed out of privacy concerns.

"We cannot afford to lose our jobs, which is the main source of our future surgical fund. It will be unavoidable that colleagues would gossip after learning what's happened."

The twins worry that media exposure will alarm their villagers and friends and create heavy pressure on their family and relatives, who did not support their sex-change operations.

The twins said they started to realize their difference from other girls in kindergarten. They kept their shared secret from the family until last year when they came across news online that transsexual surgeries were available in Shanghai.

They used the words "stunned" and "embarrassed" to describe the reaction of their parents and older brother to their sex-changing plan. In their hometown, the idea of transsexual surgery is unheard of.

The family gave up their strong objection only after both women threatened to never get married as females.

The twins told doctors they believed they were more closely bonded emotionally and more alike each other in both character and personal interests than most other twins.

Dressed completely like males and never growing long hair or wearing skirts, the twins had gone to the same schools, including the same college. They started consulting with the local hospital last July, said Zhao, their surgeon.

He said both twins went through professional assessment and were confirmed to have psychosexual traits that qualified them for surgical operations.

"Both of them strongly object to all feminine features such as periods, breasts and wearing skirts. They are confirmed as born patients of transsexual traits," Zhao said.

This marks the first case in China that twins underwent sex-changing surgery, the doctor said, adding that such experience is very rare globally.

Waraka huo ambao umekuwa gumzo mjini Arusha, unadaiwa kuandikwa na wabunge walijipambanua kama wapambanaji wa ufisadi, wakidai kuwa ni chaguo la mafisadi.

Waraka huo ambao Tanzania Daima Jumatano lina nakala yake, umesambazwa katika maeneo mbalimbali ya jimbo hilo.

Chini ya waraka huo, kuna picha za wabunge wa CCM, akiwemo Anne Kilango (Same Mashariki), Waziri wa Ushirikiano wa Jumuiya ya Afrika Mashariki, (EAC), Samwel Sitta, James Lembeli (Kahama), Naibu Waziri wa Ujenzi, Dk. Harrison Mwakyembe, na Mchungaji wa Kanisa la Uzima na Wokovu Kawe, Josephat Gwajima.

Waraka huo unadai kuwa kiongozi mmoja aliyejiuzulu kwa tuhuma ya ufisadi ambaye hakutajwa jina lake, ndiye aliyemwaga pesa jimboni humo kuhakikisha Sioi anapitishwa ndani ya vikao vya CCM kugombea ubunge wa jimbo hilo ambalo lilikuwa likiongozwa na marehemu Jeremia Sumari.

“Lengo la kigogo huyo ni kujitambulisha kama mwanasiasa mwenye nguvu zaidi kwa kutumia fedha zake. Alitumia mafedha mengi kumsaidia Sioi kuwabwaga wana CCM wenye maadili ya Kitanzania. Waraka huo unadai kuwa Dk. Mwakyembe alipata sumu hiyo kutoka kwa kigogo huyo ambaye hakutajwa jina na badala yake ametajwa kwa sifa kuwa ni fisadi papa.

“Nasi wanachama wa CCM tunaochukia ufisadi na ufalme katika siasa za Tanzania tunawaomba enyi watu wa Arumeru mumtendee mwenzetu haki kwa kuhakikisha kuwa mgombea wa mafisadi kijana Sioi hapati kiti hicho cha ubunge. CCM hatutaki ubunge wa kurithishana.

Magic Johnson afanya kweli

A group led by Lakers legend Magic Johnson emerged Tuesday night as the new owners of the Dodgers, ending months of uncertainty for the storied but troubled baseball franchise.

Johnson, who guided the Lakers to five NBA championships during the "Showtime" era of the 1980s, is a partner in the group along with longtime baseball executive Stan Kasten and movie executive Peter Guber.

The controlling owner would be Mark Walter, chief executive officer of Guggenheim Partners, a Chicago-based financial services company.

Walter and McCourt met privately in New York on Tuesday, coming to an agreement only hours after Major League Baseball owners approved three final bidders.

The winning group paid $2 billion for the team -- a record for a sports franchise -- according to an announcement issued jointly with previous owner Frank McCourt.

"I am thrilled to be part of the historic Dodger franchise," Johnson said in the statement, adding the new owners "intend to build on the fantastic foundation laid by Frank McCourt as we drive the Dodgers back to the front page of the sports section."

After taking the team into bankruptcy last year, McCourt had sought to retain control of the parking lots surrounding the ballpark.

It was announced he and "certain affiliates" of the new ownership will be "forming a joint venture, which will acquire the Chavez Ravine property for an additional $150 million."

Johnson's group will control the parking lots for Dodgers games and work with McCourt on any future development.In the statement, McCourt said the sale "reflects both the strength and future potential of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and assures that the Dodgers will have new ownership with deep local roots, which bodes well for the Dodgers, its fans and the Los Angeles community."

The announcement Tuesday ended three years of turmoil during which the team's performance on the field deteriorated and the front office struggled financially.

McCourt chose Johnson's group over St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke and a partnership of hedge-fund billionaire Steven Cohen and biotech billionaire Patrick Soon-Shiong.

The Dodgers last won the World Series in 1988, their sixth championship in half a century of O'Malley family ownership. The Johnson group would become the Dodgers' third owner since the O'Malleys sold the team in 1998, following News Corp. and McCourt.

The sale must be confirmed by the court in a hearing April 13. The transaction is set to close by April 30, the same day McCourt must pay his ex-wife $131 million in a divorce settlement.

If the deal closes as expected, the Dodgers would be owned by an entity called Guggenheim Baseball Partners. Kasten, former president of the Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals, would run the team.

A WOMAN of 47 has been jailed after having sex with a 15-year-old boy in her Jeep.

Married Susan Millman sobbed as she admitted twice having intercourse with the underage lad — once after he sneaked out of his bedroom window.

She had also flashed her chest to other boys and offered sex via a webcam.

Millman first chatted to the 15-year-old on Facebook and he "unburdened" after rows with his mum.

But she then commented on his "good looks" and began bombarding him with sexual texts, Grimsby Crown Court heard.

Prosecutor James Byatt said: "There were so many he asked her to stop it when he was at school."

Millman told police they had only kissed, saying: "He's bubbly, like me."

Jailing her for 18 months, Judge David Tremberg said: "You were in a position of trust."

She had sex with a 15-year-old schoolboy in her car after enticing him by flashing flashing her breasts on the internet.

Susan Millman, 47, used a webcam to try and tempt other teenage boys by promising them sex in video shows online.

Millman, from Grimsby, whose husband runs a coach company, has now been jailed for 18 months after admitting two offences of causing the teenage boy to engage in sex with her in her Jeep.

Grimsby Crown Court also banned her from working with children for life and ordered to sign on the Sex Offenders’ Register for 10 years.

Photographs of her appeared on a social networking site and were viewed by teenagers. Police became aware when an adult was informed and the victim was interviewed.

Prosecuting barrister James Byatt said Millman's initial contact with the youth was on Facebook and was of a friendly nature prior to the two offences between September and November 2010 and January and March 2011.

He said: 'She took a caring attitude and he confided in her. He felt he could unburden himself and they had hugs. After rows with his mother he felt he could go to confide in her.

'The nature of the communication changed and it became more sexual. She would comment on his good looks.

In his own remarks, the Cuban leader assured the Pope his country favors complete religious liberty and has good relations with all religious institutions.

He also criticized the 50-year US economic embargo and defended the socialist ideal of providing for those less fortunate.

"We have confronted scarcity but have never failed in our duty to share with those who have less," Castro said, adding that his country remains determined to chart its own path and resist efforts by "the most forceful power that history has ever known" - a reference to the United States - to thwart the island's socialist model.

The Pope's three-day stay in Cuba will inevitably spark comparisons to John Paul II's historic 1998 tour, when Fidel Castro traded his army fatigues for a suit and tie to greet the Pope and where John Paul uttered the now-famous words:

"May Cuba, with all its magnificent potential, open itself up to the world, and may the world open itself up to Cuba."

In his remarks 14 years ago, John Paul singled out Cuban prisoners jailed for their ideas, something Benedict did not do in Monday's speech.

The Sun told on Sunday how Rose moved from Italy to the tough estate featured in TV's Shameless to be near the striker, 21, in the hope of rekindling their relationship.

Her £120,000-a-week son — who she handed to a rich foster family when he was two — now often shows up in his white Bentley GT at her £550-a-month rented terrace.

Rose said: "Mario has been over to see me a few times, but he doesn't want people to know I'm here. We don't see each other all the time as he has his life and I have mine.

The victim, Augustina, hails from Anambra State while her husband, Wasiu Jimoh, is from Kwara State.

With burns all over her body, fluid mixed with human fat dripped like a fountain from her face down her chest to her fingertips.

Writhing in pains, the medics, Dr Bayo and the nurses, battled to give Augustina some relief as her peeling skin glued her to the hospital bed.

The doctor said she had suffered second-degree burns.

Initially, she hardly uttered a word except some feeble words expressing regrets over a marriage that has gone sour barely two years after it was contracted.

How it started

The residents of 7 Tunde Lawal Street, Okokomaiko, woke up on Friday to witness a more dangerous fight between the couple said to be notorious for constantly quarreling.

According to Augustina, trouble started on Thursday when she reported to the husband that a certain lady sent her an irritating text massage warning her to leave Wasiu alone, claiming that the police officer was her man.

The victim, who claimed that her husband had the habit of keeping relationship with other women, said Inspector Jimoh flared up and started beating her.

On Friday morning, he reportedly told her that since she was stubborn, he was going to deal with her.

She also claimed that he had constantly quarreled with her over her demand for feeding money, adding that he frequently assaults her on the slightest provocation.

According to the victim, as he was pounding her, a neighbor came to her rescue and facilitated her escape to another neighbor’s kitchen, who was cooking at that time, only for the husband to rush in and emptied a gallon of fuel upon her by the fire place.

But police officer, said to be serving at the Ifako Police Station, Bariga, told the doctor that it was his wife that was bearing the keg of fuel in her hand as she made her escape into the neighbor’s kitchen.

Unfortunately, he explained, the fuel exploded upon her leaving the whole place on fire.

Asked if she would return to the marriage after her ordeal, Augustina reluctantly told our correspondent that she would wait for her family’s decision.

According to her, she cannot give a definite response until she had heard from her family and that her mind was not made up.

Our correspondent also gathered that when the incident happened, the woman ran to her Pentecostal church pastor to show him what was left of her burnt skin before the pastor instructed her to proceed to the hospital for medical intervention.

Her decision to rush to her pastor, it was explained, was because the man of God had been advising her to pray that the man could change since there is no situation too difficult for God to handle.

The woman has however appealed for assistance from government and non-governmental organizations.

The police officer was arrested on Friday but it was gathered that he had been granted conditional bail at press time.

Akiwa katika kijiji cha Maruango, kata ya Leguruki, alisema kuwa uchaguzi wa Arumeru Mashariki si uwanja wa vita, akisisitiza kauli aliyoitoa wakati wa uzinduzi wa kampeni za chama hicho Machi 9, mwaka huu, kuwa CHADEMA itafanya mikutano ya amani na kistaarabu bila kumtukana mtu yeyote, huku akilitaka Jeshi la Polisi kuwa uwepo wake Arumeru kuwe ni sehemu ya matumaini na haki kutendeka, si kuibeba CCM na kuwatia hofu na woga wananchi.

Aliongeza kuwa, utawala wa CCM umekuwa ukiwatisha watu badala ya kuwa sehemu ya matumaini na haki za wananchi, akionya kuwa hakuna utawala wa kidhalimu uliowahi kudumu milele, kwani CCM sasa badala ya kuwatia moyo wananchi na kuwapatia haki wamegeuka kuwatia hofu na kuwatisha, ikiwa ni ishara ya utawala wa kidhalimu.

“Ndugu zangu polisi ambao pamoja na kutupiga mabomu bado tunawatetea, nawaombeni sana muwe sehemu ya haki na matumaini ya wananchi hawa, fanyeni kazi yenu ya kulinda amani na usalama wa raia na mali zao, msifanye kazi ya kuibeba CCM, wala nguvu zenu hizo za kuibeba CCM hazitasaidia, uwepo wenu hapa usiwe kuwalinda mafisadi bali kulinda haki na matumaini ya watu hawa.

“CCM wanafanya vitendo vya kihalifu kwa watu wanaowapinga kifikra, kama hivi vya kumpiga mzee wa miaka sabini, wanapiga raia, tunataka polisi waliomwagwa hapa kwa wingi wachukue hatua dhidi ya wavunja sheria hao.
Aliongeza kuwa chama tawala kimeleta wabunge 50 na serikali imekwenda likizo kwa vile mawaziri wamehamia hapa huku Waziri wa Uratibu na Mahusiano, Stephen Wassira, akiongoza kampeni za matusi badala ya kutengeneza mahusiano.

Wakati huo huo, Mzee mwenye umri wa miaka 65, Eliya Samweli, amedai kupigwa na kijana aliyemtaja kwa jina la Elibariki Karelia, kwa sababu ya uamuzi wake wa kujiunga na CHADEMA hivi karibuni na kukabidhiwa kadi ya chama hicho wiki iliyopita.

Akizungumza katika mkutano wa kampeni mbele ya Mbowe, Mzee Samweli alisema kuwa kijana huyo alimkuta akinywa soda madukani Maruango, akamtisha na kumnyang’anya simu na baadaye saa tatu kumvamia nyumbani kwake na kuanza kumpiga.

Alisema watoto wake walipiga yowe kuomba msaada wa majirani, ambapo mtuhumiwa alikimbia, huku akimtishia kuwa angemchomea moto nyumba yake.

Katika hali isiyo ya kawaida mkutano wa kampeni wa mgombea ubunge jimbo la Arumeru Mashariki kwa tiketi ya Chama cha Mapinduzi ( CCM ) Sioi Sumari ulitawaliwa na maneno ya matusi na vijembe dhidi ya viongozi wa CHADEMA.

Hali hiyo ilijitokeza jana wakati mgombea wa CCM , Sioi Sumari, alipokuwa akihutubia jukwaani aliporwa kipaza sauti na Meneja wa Kampeni hizo, Mwigulu Mchemba, ambaye alianza kumshambulia Katibu Mkuu wa CHADEMA , Dk. Willibrod Slaa kwa matusi akimwita kichaa.

Hatua hiyo ilitokana na kitendo cha helikopta ya CHADEMA kupita juu kwa mbali na ulipokuwa ukifanyika mkutano wa CCM, na kusababisha wananchi wengi waliokuwa kwenye mkutano huo kushangilia kwa kutumia salamu ya CHADEMA ya “Peoples Power” huku wakionyesha vidole viwili juu.
