PATRICE EVRA celebrated Manchester United’s crushing victory over Arsenal by branding them a bunch of babies.

United’s left-back claimed the Gunners were totally outclassed throughout this one-sided Champions League semi-final.

The French international said: “It was 11 men against 11 babies. We never doubted ourselves.
“We have much more experience and that’s what made the difference. We were always confident. It should have been that score in the first leg anyway. It is a great United team that won.
“Football today is not only about playing well, it’s about winning trophies. Everybody talks about the way Arsenal play but, at the end of the day, it’s about winning silverware.

“At United, we play well and we win. Tactically and technically we were superior. You look at our starting 11 and theirs and you see that we are well above.
“Lots of people are disappointed because they thought they would beat us like they did in the
league. But the Champions League is another level.”

United boss Alex Ferguson hailed two-goal hero Cristiano Ronaldo — and insisted no defence in the world can live with the current World Player of the Year.

Fergie said: “Arsenal just couldn’t handle Ronaldo tonight. He was the difference between the two teams.

“Of course it helped that our midfield worked its socks off, we held a good shape and covered our defensive positions well. But we needed someone to give Arsenal real problems and when Cristiano is in that form he’s a fantastic player.

“His second goal was a marvellous team effort. Arsenal were throwing everything forward but we caught them on the counter-attack. The speed of our play was fantastic.”

Yet it was Ronaldo’s stunning 41-yard free-kick which really killed off Arsenal just three minutes after Park Ji Sung had fired United into a decisive lead.

The Portuguese winger admitted: “In the last few games I’ve felt really, really good. This is a
crucial time in the season and the big games are all coming up for us.”

Ronaldo sympathised with Arsenal keeper Manuel Almunia over his free-kick and said: “The keeper can always do better but these shots are difficult to save because the ball moves so much these days.
Even when I practise free-kicks in training it’s very difficult for our keeper.”

Ferguson also had comforting words for old adversaries Arsenal. He said: “We got a break with the first goal when their boy slipped and it left them with a mountain to climb after that.

“We got two quick goals against a very young team and kids can never recover from that no matter what level they play at.

“We went into this game at our strongest and with everyone available while Arsenal had a few injury problems and that was a key issue.

“I do sympathise with Arsene Wenger and I know how he’s feeling because just prior to us beating Bayern in 1999 everyone was using the fact I hadn’t won the Champions League as a stick to beat me with.

“He deserves success and I don’t believe you have to win the Champions League to be a great
manager. But the problem is that the longer you’re in the game the more labels get attached to you.

If you win you’re the greatest and if you lose you’re useless. There’s no grey area.

“But I still think Arsenal will be one of our biggest threats next season as they have potential.”

Yet Ferguson is not looking that far ahead right now as he looks to wrap up the Premier league
title.

He said: “We had a blip when we lost to Liverpool and Fulham and we got a break against Aston Villa — but since then our form has been right back. This is the time of the season when you want to be in your best form and I have a strong squad.”

Asked whether he wants to face Barcelona or Chelsea in the final, Ferguson laughed: “Neither of
them. I think we should have a bye!

“I watched Barcelona against Real Madrid on Saturday night and they had me drooling.

They were absolutely magnificent and they could have scored 10 if they’d been properly concentrating.

But they are going to Chelsea minus Puyol and Marquez in central defence and that’s a big problem for them. I think Chelsea will go through.”

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger made no excuses for his side’s defeat and said: “Congratulations to
United and good luck to them in the final.

“Over the two legs there is no doubt that they were the better side and deserved to go through.

“This is one of the biggest disappointments of my time here because the fans were really up for a big night and hurts so much to disappoint them all.”
