Koffi Olomide 'kukamua' harusi ya mtoto wa Mugabe

Popular rhumba artist Koffi Olomide, who is in the country ahead of President Mugabe’s daughter Bona’s wedding, says he will shoot part of a video of his latest album in Harare as appreciation to Zimbabweans’ love for his music.

The rhumba star, who will on Saturday preform at Bona Mugabe and Simba Chikore’s wedding, arrived in Zimbabwe with his group from the DRC on Thursday morning.

The internationally acclaimed artist said in appreciation of his fans in Zimbabwe, he will shoot part of a video on his latest album in Harare.

He could, however, not reveal the name of his yet to be released album.

The rhumba maestro said he is honoured to perfom at the Zimbabwe First Family wedding, adding that it is in the African spirit to appreciate the role being played by President Mugabe in ensuring unity, peace and stability on the continent.

“Lets all emulate his role in this continent,” said Olomide.

Olomide, who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Economics and a Masters degree in Mathematics from the University of Paris, launched his solo music career in 1986 after a stint with Papa Wemba.

He popularised the slower style of soukous which he dubbed tcha tscho.
