Olivier Giroud says he can “start his adventure” at Arsenal now that he has opened his account in the Premier League.
The France international had come under pressure after failing to score in his first seven appearances for the Club after joining from Montpellier.
But the 26-year-old netted against Coventry in the Capital One Cup and then scored the crucial equaliser against West Ham in the league on Saturday.
“I’m very happy to have scored and that we won,” Giroud told Arsenal Player. “It was a difficult game against a very good team, who play well at home.
“We were better in the second half and [were able] to play through their lines. I think we finished the game better.
“I feel relieved now. It was very important for me to score in the Premier League, to keep going and start my adventure here with Arsenal.”
Giroud says it was vital for Arsenal to respond with a victory at Upton Park following their defeat to Chelsea.
“We had a bad one against Chelsea last week,” he said. “It was important to go in front and to win [against West Ham].
“We’ll keep going and stay confident for the future. I think we have a very interesting role in this championship.”
