A woman plunged more than 300 feet to her death in front of her husband after accidentally slipping from a cliff, it has emerged.
The 49 year-old was strolling along the Beachy Head cliffs, near Eastbourne, East Sussex, at the weekend while out walking her pet dog.

The couple, who have not been named, were walking along the clifftop near the Belle Tout lighthouse when the “tragic accident” occurred just before 3pm on Saturday.
While the area is a known suicide spot, police said the death was not being treated as suspicious.
Witnesses reported seeing the woman, who was not from the local area, slip by the cliff edge before she plunged more than 300 feet to her death.
Locals reported the weather was wet and squally, with visibility significantly reduced.
One local said: "The cliffs are stupendously high and the cliff edges cracking and flaky. A tiny momentary lapse in concentration is all that's needed. Terrible."

The circumstances of her death remained a mystery but police downplayed local suggestions she had been blown over the cliff by strong winds.

Her body was found by two coastguard teams near the lighthouse a short time later.

Police later seized a car, believed to belong to the couple, which had been parked at a nearby cafe. Officers are also due to take further statements from the husband, who is said to be "badly shocked".

A Sussex Police spokesman said early investigations suggested the woman had “accidentally stepped off” the cliff.
