ARSENE WENGER blew his top after the Arsenal board gave him the dreaded vote of confidence — and fans voted with their feet.
The Gunners boss erupted when club chief executive Ivan Gazidis backed him by insisting: "There's no issue about Arsene leaving, or the club pushing him out. Arsene is not broken."
That went down like a lead balloon with Wenger, who snapped: "I'm not bothered by this speculation. Whether I work here for the next 10 years or the next day I will let others assess the situation."
The Frenchman will also have been dismayed by the sight of row upon row of empty seats as his side struggle to beat League Two Shrewsbury.
The crowd of 46,539 was the lowest attendance at the Emirates since it was opened in 2006 — despite ticket prices being dropped to just £20.
James Collins put Shrewsbury ahead before Arsenal recovered with goals from Kieran Gibbs, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Yossi Benayoun.
Wenger added: "I accept critics and I do not say it doesn't matter that people criticise us. I prefer it when they say I am good.
"I have kept them in the Champions League for 14 years and I wish it lasts another 14 years."
Earlier Gazidis said: "There is no issue about Arsene leaving.
"We are in a culture where things are easily discarded, and if this club were to give up the fundamentals that have made it so strong we would do ourselves more damage."
After the nervous win, Wenger said: "Shrewsbury were direct but had good technique. They had a few dangerous positions even after they scored.
"But we took over in the second half. I was very calm at half-time. Panic doesn't help."
Aw, this was a very good post. Taking the time and actual effort to generate a good
