Police in Mombasa have arrested a woman reported to have chopped off the private parts of her husband.

Ms Pauline Mukiri, 32, was apprehended in Kiembein on Saturday evening as she attempted to flee.

Kisauni OCPD Richard Ngatia said she was detained at Bamburi Police Station.

“She is being questioned and we hope to arraign her for murder Monday,” Mr Ngatia said.

Mr Alloys Matata, 36, died while receiving treatment at Yeshua Medical Centre in Bamburi.

According to neighbours, the six-month pregnant woman went to a nearby bar where Matata was having a drink and started a quarrel, saying he had not been seen home for three days.

Neighbours said shortly after the pair arrived in the house, they heard the man screaming.

“We found him lying in a pool of blood in one of the rooms,” Mr Kennedy Kyalo said.
The neighbour took Matata to hospital.

“We know the man is a drunkard. The two quarrel every now and then but the row degenerated into violence today,” Mr Kyalo said.

“The woman has been complaining for the past several days about her husband’s behaviour.”
Matata’s body was taken to the Coast General Hospital mortuary.
