Wanawake kizimbani ugomvi hela ya chips

A city magistrate left his court in stitches after he jokingly said he could give two accused women Sh20 each to solve their case.

The magistrate later dismissed the case involving the two women who fought over Sh20 chips citing ‘insufficient witnesses’.

The accused, Christine Kayobi and Ann Awino, (pictured) allegedly fought in public in Makadara on February 12, 2014.

According to police, Awino had gone to buy chips at a stall operated by Christine’s mother.

She allegedly took Sh20 chips and promised to pay the following day, but failed to do so, leading to a confrontation with Kayobi the following day.

The prosecution said the two engaged in a lengthy fight.

The women pleaded with the magistrate saying they had resolved the matter. The magistrate released them with a stern warning:

“This was a simple case, and I can even give each of you Sh20. But since you say you have forgiven each other, I am releasing you for now, unless witnesses come forward to testify.”
