An 18-year-old girl from KwaMashu,
north of Durban, SA, allegedly aborted her twins at her home.
It's believed she was confused about who got her pregnant. According to her uncle they did not know she was pregnant. He said she acted normal and they never suspected a thing.
Even her mother didn't notice she was pregnant. When her uncle arrived home from work to find what had happened, he was shocked.
Her 15-year-old sister said she was seven months pregnant.
She said she slept throughout the morning and later in the day she went to the toilet.
After a while she heard her scream. She rushed to the toilet and found her lying in a pool of blood with two baby boys next to her. She then called neighbours for help.
Residents called an ambulance and rushed her to the nearest clinic. Unfortunately her twins did not make it, but she survived.
According to her friend, who refused to be named, the girl had previously tried several times to abort.
"I knew about her pregnancy when she was two months pregnant. But she asked me not to tell her mother," said the friend.
"She was confused about who got her pregnant. That's why she wanted to get rid of her babies. She had two boyfriends.
"I don't know what she drank, but she told me on Monday afternoon that she had found something to get rid of her pregnancy."
"At this stage we are still confused," the girl's uncle said.
"But as soon as everything is sorted out and she is back from the hospital, we will arrange the funeral."

Captain Thulani Zwane said the matter was not reported to police.
"The family should report the matter to the nearest police station. Then the police will investigate," said Zwane.
