RIO FERDINAND cannot wait to tackle Manchester City next month.
United and noisy neighbours City were drawn together yesterday in the FA Cup third round — a repeat of last year's semi-final.
City won last April and then smashed Alex Ferguson's men 6-1 at Old Trafford in the league two months ago.
United's Ferdinand said: "Third round of the Cup vs City.
"A great game to kick off this year's FA Cup. I can't wait."
City boss Roberto Mancini knows it will be tough.
He now has SEVEN games next month, including a two-legged Carling Cup semi-final against Liverpool.
United legend Dwight Yorke says the third-round result could affect the destination of the title.
Yorke said: "This Cup draw suits United more than City.
"If United win, it might just put a few doubts into City's mind — and give United a fresh impetus."
But ex-City chairman and striker Francis Lee reckons his club will have the mental edge over United.
He said: "Over the last couple of years they have been very close but the 6-1 might just give City the psychological edge."
Holders City have been installed as the bookies' favourites for the Etihad clash on January 7 or 8.
And former City midfielder Gary Owen, 53, added: "United won't like this draw one bit.

"Yes, they will want revenge but it's another thing entirely getting it."
