Maradona anusurika kufa

Former Argentine soccer player and coach Diego Maradona escaped serious injury on Monday when his car was involved in a collision with a bus near his Buenos Aires home, local media and officials said.

Maradona, widely seen as one of the best soccer players in history, underwent routine tests after the accident in the capital's Ezeiza suburb, hospital director Oscar Sico said.

The World Cup winner's vehicle was reportedly hit by a bus while driving on the outskirts of the Argentine capital on Monday night.

He was taken to hospital along with his girlfriend Veronica Ojeda suffering from cuts and bruises.

Oscar Sico, director at Hospital de Ezeiza, told reporters: "They are in perfect condition. They went on their own (to hospital) but have no problems. They can both go home."

Extra tests had to be carried out on Ms Ojeda as a precaution but she was discharged, along with Maradona.

Reports she had suffered a hip injury were not immediately confirmed.

"The two are in a perfect condition, they've hardly suffered any injuries and they came to the hospital by themselves as a precautionary measure," Sico said.

Maradona, 50, is waiting to start a new coaching job at Al Wasl in the United Arab Emirates after failing to keep his last job as head of the national team.

The former player's mother is in hospital at the moment and local media said he was on his way to visit her when the accident took place.

Diego Armando Maradona (born 30 October 1960) is a former Argentine football player.

He is widely regarded as one of the greatest football players of all time. Over the course of his professional club career Maradona played for Argentinos Juniors, Boca Juniors, Barcelona, Napoli, Sevilla and Newell's Old Boys, setting world-record contract fees.

In his international career, playing for Argentina, he earned 91 caps and scored 34 goals.

He played in four FIFA World Cup tournaments, including the 1986 tournament, where he captained Argentina and led them to their victory over West Germany in the final, winning the Golden Ball award as the tournament's best player.

In that same tournament's quarterfinal round, he scored both goals in a 2–1 victory over England that entered football history, though for two different reasons.

The first goal was via an unpenalized handball known as the "Hand of God", while the second goal was a 60 m (66 yd) goal through six England players, voted "The Goal of the Century"
