Ferguson-Tulikuwa na bahati sana kuwafunga Spurs

OLD-TIMER Alex Ferguson admitted Manchester United got lucky at White Hart Lane after a Young man kept the title chase bubbling.

Ashley Young's double cut the gap to just two points on leaders Manchester City.

But boss Fergie insisted: "We certainly carried a lot of luck.

"It's an unbelievable result for us and that was our hardest away game of the season. In the first half, we were never at the races.

"Unfair on Tottenham? No question about that, they played very well.

"But in context of all the teams who have come here, you can see why it's such a great result for us.

"We've got to realise — and I think we do — that to come here and get that result is really first class.

"To be just two points behind Manchester City puts us in a massive, massive position."

The match was billed as the battle of the Premier League pensioners as Fergie, 70, went head to head with Spurs chief Harry Redknapp, who was 65 on Friday.

United were at full stretch until Wayne Rooney headed his 26th goal of the season just before the break.

But they never looked back as Young struck twice in the second half.

Jermain Defoe got Spurs' late consolation but Fergie added: "We had a bit of luck scoring right on half-time.

"It was probably our first strike on goal.

"Scoring the second just after half-time was the killer for Tottenham."
