Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed Manchester United remain eager to sign Robin van Persie but have hit a break in the wall in their attempts from Arsenal.
While United are willing to make Van Persie one of their highest wage earners
to take him to Old Trafford and offer him parity with striker Wayne Rooney,
Ferguson admits negotiations have stalled.
"We have made a bid and they've been trying to negotiate with other clubs,"
Ferguson said following United's penalty shoot-out defeat to Barcelona in Gothenburg
last night.
"I don't have a gut feeling on it at the moment, I must admit. We're not
getting any breakthrough with Arsenal.
Ferguson added that "it's difficult to say why they're (Arsenal)
operating this way".
He said: "I don't know what their thoughts are because they're not giving anything away."
