Andriy Shevchenko anataka kuwa mwanasiasa

Former Chelsea and Ukraine striker Andriy Shevchenko reveals political ambitions

Revealing his intentions to play the political game now that he has hung up his football boots, former Chelsea and AC Milan striker Andriy Shevchenko announces his new goal on a trip to a school in the Ukraine.

Ukrainian striker Andriy Shevchenko told the assembled press that he had quit football to begin a career in politics and would be joining a new political party.

Shevchenko spoke to journalists during a visit to a school on Saturday where he met with students, toured the school and played ping-pong with some of the children.

The 35-year-old former Chelsea player joined Ukraine Forward!, a party that this year broke off from the main opposition coalition, just months before the October parliamentary election.

"I made a decision to join the Ukraine Forward! party with Natasha (Korolevska) and I'm starting my political career," Shevchenko said, adding,

"(I joined Ukraine Forward!) because it's the party of the future, it's a party of young leaders and for Ukraine it will be a definite choice between the past and the future and I've made this choice for myself, and I believe in this party."
Ukraine Forward!, previously known as the Social-Democratic party, is led by parliament deputy Natalya Korolevska, and has long been a member of the opposition faction BYuT led by former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

  2. I know this if off topic but I'm looking into starting my own blog and was wondering what all is needed to get setup? I'm assuming having a
blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I'm not very internet smart so I'm not 100% certain. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks
