Kijana achoma mahakama kupinga hukumu

A middle-aged man, Ahmed Ubale, in the wee hours of yesterday set ablaze the Funtua Upper Shari’ah Court for allegedly not being happy with the verdict of the court.

It was gathered that Ubale approached the
court sometime last year and instituted a case against the parents of a woman who did not approve of his marriage proposal to their daughter and demanded the refund of all expenses he incurred while dating the young woman.

Although the judgment was delivered in Ubale’s favour as the court directed the woman’s parents to offset all his claims, Ubale set the court ablaze and stood by until policemen came and arrested him.

He was said to have carried out the dastardly act to register his displeasure over the ‘‘settlement’’ judgement by the court.

He expected the court to compel the woman’s parents to marry off their daughter to him.

The fire destroyed the judge’s chamber and registrar’s office while documents including 40-year-old records were said to have been burnt in the inferno.
