Anyang'anywa namba ya gari ya 'kishetani'

A MAN in Sweden was ordered to change his motorcycle license plates after authorities ruled his current registration number -- 666 -- was "offensive".

The man, from Falkoping, 390km southwest of Stockholm, had the number registered since 2007.

However, the Swedish Transport Agency apparently had a change of heart when he tried to renew his registration last week, news website The Local reported yesterday.

The agency informed the man, who was not named, that the triple six number would be de-registered.

"The number combination of 666 may be offensive to some," authorities said in a letter to the motorcyclist. "The Swedish Transport Agency therefore has decided that you are no longer entitled to these personal number plates."

Agency rules stipulate that "a personal plate may not be designed if it causes offense or harm to anyone else."

The number 666 is regarded by some to represent the Antichrist or the Devil. Some people take the number's association with Satan so seriously that they assiduously avoid things related to triple six.

  1. First of all I want to say superb blog! I had
a quick question in which I'd like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your head before writing. I have had a tough time clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out there. I do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally lost just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or tips? Many thanks!
