As Didier Drogba’s penalty went in, Mrs Merkel’s translator shouted
“Scheisse!” Not knowing the German for “sh*t”, President Barack Obama said:
“Scheisse? What’s that mean?”
World leaders broke off from G8 summit talks at Camp David in the US to catch
the penalties on TV. The PM said: “President Obama asked, ‘Are you going to
watch too?’ I said, ‘Well, what’s the point? We never win’.
“To watch a penalty shoot-out with the Chancellor that you win was quite a
treat.”
Cameron and soccer-mad Merkel watched Germany boot England out of the 2010
World Cup during the Toronto G8.
