Wu Juping (31) akimfurahia mwanawe mwenye umri wa miezi 7 muda mfupi baada ya kumdaka mtoto wa kike mwenye umri wa miaka 2 aliyeanguka kutoka ghorofa ya 10.Mtoto huyo, Zhang Fangyu a.k.a Niu Niu, na wazazi wake wanaishi kwenye ghorofa ya 10 ya jengo hilo.
Mtoto huyo alikuwa ameachwa nyumbani na bibi yake, lakini, labda tuseme kwa bahati mbaya, bibi huyo akapanda juu ya ghorofa kuchota maji ya kufulia, mtoto akawa peke yake, akaenda dirishani, akaanza kuning'inia, na hatimaye akaporomoka.
Wakati Niu Niu ananing'inia dirishani, Wu Juping alikuwa anapita jirani na ghorofa hilo, akamuona, akafanya uamuzi wa haraka wa kukimbia kwenda kumdaka!
Wakati huo alikuwa amevaa viatu vyenye visigino virefu, akavua ili aweze kukimbia haraka kwenda kumdaka mtoto huyo, kwa bahati akawahi kabla mtoto huyo hajafika chini, akanyoosha mikono, akafanikiwa kukidaka kiumbe hicho.
Wu Juping alipoteza fahamu, muda mfupi baadaye alizinduka na kujikuta kwenye maumivu makali, na baada ya vipimo ilibainika kwamba mifupa ya mkono wake imevunjika.
Mtoto Niu Niu yupo salama, hakuumia, ila alipelekwa hospitali kwa ajili ya uangalizi.
Ni tukio la aina yake kiasi kwamba baada ya wananchi nchini China wameshauri ujengwe mnara wa kumbukumbu kwa heshima ya shujaa Wu Juping aliyeokoa maisha ya mtoto, ambaye, kwa kuzingatia urefu wa kutoka ghorofa ya 10 hadi chini, kwa vyovyote vile angekufa.
Alikuwa na muda mfupi sana, tuseme sekunde tu kufanya uamuzi mgumu ambao, kwa mujibu wa daktari ungeweza kumsababishia kifo au kupooza maisha yake yote kama mtoto huyo angeangukia katika kichwa chake (cha Wu Juping).
Wu Juping akiwa hospitali kusubiri kufanyiwa operesheni baada ya kuvunjika mkono wakati akimdaka mtoto aliyeanguka kutoka ghorofa ya 10.Kwa mujibu wa Wu Juping, ilikuwa ni ghafala mno lakini kwa sababu alikuwa jirani na eneo lile, aliamua kumdaka mtoto huyo, na hajuti kufanya hivyo.
A toddler who fell from 10 floors is alive after being caught a a woman passing by. The amazing story happened in China where a two-year old girl fell from a 10th floor window after being left unattended by her grandmother.
Luckily, a woman passing by saw her fall and immediately went over to catch.
The toddler is in hospital with possible internal injuries while the woman who caught her suffered a broken arm.
China Central Television and the Xinhua News Agency report that the toddler, named Zhang Fangyu but known by the nickname Niu Niu, was left in the care of her grandmother in a 10th floor apartment outside Hangzhou.
Neighbors first saw Niu Niu dangling from the 10th floor window before Wu Juping, the woman passing by, saw her. She reportedly kicked off her shoes and ran to the rescue.
“It was so urgent. I saw her when she was about to fall and rushed there, and after tens of seconds she fell off,” CCTV quoted Wu as saying.
“I thought to myself ‘I should stretch my arms to her. Because I am right here, I must get her.’ Then I made it. I caught her in my arms.”
Wu Juping also said she was prompted by the thought of her own child who fell from a high chair recently and hurt himself badly. Niu Niu is currently under observation in the hospital.
Seeing the child dangling from the window and about to fall, Wu kicked off her high-heeled shoes and ran towards her with her arms outstretched, Xinhua said.
Niu Niu struck Wu's left arm before falling onto the lawn, while Wu passed out from the force of the blow.
The accident took place near Hangzhou, capital of the eastern province of Zhejiang.
Jin Dengfeng, director of a hospital in Fuyang city which offered to treat Wu free of charge when it heard of her actions, said the woman had risked her life by breaking the child's fall.
"She could have died or been paralysed for life if the child had hit her head or her back," he said.
Wu said that because of her injury she would be forced to stop breast-feeding her infant son earlier than planned.
"I don't regret anything that happened," she was quoted as saying.
"I just hope that Niu Niu will recover." While Ms Wu sustained multiple fractures in her arm, the child only suffered some abdominal bruising.
“The baby’s head, neck, chest and spine are all fine,” said doctors at the nearby Fuyang hospital.
“We will treat Mrs Wu for free,” said Jin Dengfeng, the president of the hospital.
“When she reached out, she was putting her own life at risk. She could have died or been paralysed if the child had hit her head or back.”
A baby boy survived a fall from eight floors in the same city in 2009 after he landed in a box hedge.
