DOUBLE winners Chelsea face fierce competition from Barcelona to sign Liverpool striker Fernando Torres. The Blues are expected to make a massive £50MILLION move for the 26-year-old hitman this month.
But Spanish giants Barca are ready to dump their £40m misfit Zlatan Ibrahimovich after just one season and use the cash to bank-roll their bid.
And they hope the clincher will be pairing him with fellow Spain striker David Villa at the Nou Camp.
The deadly duo work brilliantly together on the international stage - winning Euro 2008 - and now Barca want them in harness at club level.
The Catalans hope to seal a £35m deal for Villa after cash-strapped Valencia admitted they have to sell.
Real Madrid are keen on Ibrahimovich - especially with his ex-Inter Milan boss, Jose Mourinho, set to take over at the Bernabeu next week.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will sanction a stunning £190,000-a-week wage packet for Torres.
The Blues are also closing in on another Anfield man, Yossi Benayoun.
Chelsea want the Israeli winger, 30, to replace fans' favourite Joe Cole, who has failed to agree a new deal. Michael Ballack, Ricardo Carvalho, Deco and Juliano Belletti also look on their way out of Stamford Bridge.
